Internal Investigations

Situations requiring internal investigations, triggered by a company’s discovery of suspicious activity or an action taken by a government agency, are occurring with greater frequency. The passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 has increased the likelihood that corporations and board committees must institute internal investigations. Conducting an internal investigation is a serious matter that requires seasoned investigators who are sensitive to the regulatory and litigation issues that surround such matters.

At La Bella & McNamara, we have conducted internal investigations involving allegations of financial fraud, revenue recognition improprieties, insider trading and suspicious financial transactions. We address the substantive allegations, evaluate the adequacy of the compliance policies in place, recommend appropriate compliance policy and procedure improvements, and if warranted, interact with the appropriate regulatory or investigating entity.
