Mr. McNamara represents companies and individuals in a variety of white collar criminal and regulatory enforcement matters and complex civil litigation. He has defended institutions and officers, directors and executives in grand jury, SEC, and other regulatory investigations. Mr. McNamara conducts internal corporate investigations on behalf of inside counsel and board committees. He regularly represents clients in business litigation in federal and state courts.

Mr. McNamara was a federal prosecutor for 11 years for the United States Attorney in the Southern District of California, where he focused on major economic crimes and public corruption. He worked with Mr. La Bella on the Campaign Financing Task Force in Washington, D.C., from 1997 to 1998, investigating violations of federal campaign finance laws during the 1996 presidential election, and was the lead prosecutor in the Task Force's first indicted case.

Before entering public service, Mr. McNamara practiced with the District of Columbia office of a national law firm, where he focused on securities regulatory and litigation matters, civil litigation, corporate and foreign internal investigations, and white-collar criminal defense. Before entering private practice, Mr. McNamara served as law clerk to the Honorable Roger D. Foley, United States District Judge for the District of Nevada, from 1986 to 1987. Mr. McNamara earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada in 1983. He received his J.D. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1986, where he was Managing Editor of the San Diego Law Review.

Mr. McNamara is a member of the bars of California, Nevada and the District of Columbia. He is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California. Mr. McNamara serves on the Board of Governors of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and is a member of the American Bar Association (Criminal Justice Section - White Collar Crime Committee), the Irish American Bar Association of San Diego and the San Diego County Bar Association.

Mr. McNamara has been recognized by The San Diego Daily Transcript as one of San Diego County's Top Attorneys in Criminal Law (2008, 2009) and by Southern California Super Lawyers in both the white collar criminal defense and business litigation areas (2008, 2009). He also has an AV Peer Review rating with Martindale-Hubbell ®.
