Mr. Robertson has been Of Counsel to the firm since its formation in 2002. He has had a varied career in law, business, sports management, legal education, and non-profits. He began his legal career in Los Angeles with Lillick, McHose & Charles where he was a partner, and later, Of Counsel to Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, specializing in business litigation, banking, and intellectual property.
Mr. Robertson moved to San Diego in 1990 to join the initial management team of a start-up sporting goods company with responsibilities for finance, operations, and legal. After that venture was sold, he pursued a series of entrepreneurial ventures, including golf equipment, other sports products, and venture capital. In the three years before joining the firm, he was the COO and General Counsel to Carbite Golf, a local San Diego public golf equipment manufacturer.
Mr. Robertson focuses his practice on general business counseling, corporate governance, and civil litigation, with an emphasis on receiverships.
Mr. Robertson is a 1971 cum laude graduate of Brown University. He received his J.D. degree in 1974 from UCLA where he was a member of the UCLA Law Review. He served as a law clerk to the United States District Court Judge in Los Angeles, William P. Gray, from 1974 to 1975.
Mr. Robertson is a member of the California Bar, local federal courts and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Robertson has been involved with several civic groups in San Diego and Los Angeles. He has been a member of the La Jolla YMCA Board of Directors, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Century Club of San Diego, and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. He is a past president of the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was the General Chairman of the 1979 Los Angeles Open, a PGA Tour event at Riviera Country Club.
Mr. Robertson was an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern University Law School, 1986-1991, where he taught clinical courses in Trial Advocacy, and has been an instructor for the University of San Diego Paralegal Program.
